Children's Summer Gardening Workshops

All children love to dig in the dirt, are curious and learn by doing.  What better way to teach a child about environmental awareness than by exploring the workings of nature.  As children work in the garden they can experience the satisfaction one gets from taking care of something over time and observe the cycle of life first hand.

The workshops will give children a hands on experience of gardening as they will use gardening tools their size to work the dirt and plant seeds in the garden.  Through stories, songs and activities they will learn how to take care of the vegetables they have planted, how to care for them while they are growing and how to prepare the fruit it pears for a scrumptious meal just their size!

Today's generation of children lack the knowledge of where their food comes from, how it is grown, and what real food tastes like.  Ask a child where their food comes from and the most common response is, "The grocery store".

2010 workshop schedules will be released next March.
