Grilling with Your Favorite Herbs!
The workshop will begin with a tour of the kitchen garden. The kitchen garden is filled with over 20 varieties of herbs. Each one has a story to be told and its own unique aroma and distinct flavor. You will learn to identify basic culinary herbs by their botanical makeup, taste, and scent.
Each individual will collect herbs that appeal to them for grilling a variety of meats and fresh vegetables, as well as, adding a little zip to a fresh tossed baby green salad. Then it is off to the kitchen to prepare your meal.
Choice cuts of beef, pork, chicken, and turkey are cut just the right size for making skewers, along with fresh vegetables, such as tomatoes, zucchini, onions, and green peppers, depending upon what is in season.
Once you have decided upon your skewer combination, it is then time to season your entrée with your selection of herbs.
You will learn how to make marinades and use dry herbal rubs, what meats need to be marinated, and what herbs complement which meats and vegetables.
