Tea Thyme in the Garden
Over 3000 years ago, Emperor Shen Nung of China found a leaf floating in his bowl of steaming spring water. Today, the tea industry is a booming business. Tea Thyme in the Garden gives you hands-on experience on how to create your own herbal tea from fresh picked herb leaves.
Your afternoon will begin with a tour of the kitchen garden, English cottage tea garden, and the edible flower garden. You will be introduced to a variety of herbs that can be used to create a tea garden in order to make your own herbal tea. You will learn how to identify, grow, and harvest each one. Each herb has a story to be told and has its own unique aroma and distinct flavor.
Once you have collected the herbs to make your tea, we head to the kitchen to learn some tea terminology and brewing tips. Individuals will wash their herbs and prepare them for a cup of tea.
Along with your tea, you can enjoy Cucumber Sandwiches with Mint Butter, Apple & Celery Scones, French Tarragon Butter Cookies, Spinach Cheese Tartlets, Lemon Bread, and Sage and Apple Upside-Down Cake.
To make your group reservation of 8 to 12 people, call Annie at 800-644-7245.
Workshops generally begin at 2:00-2:30 pm. You will need to allow at least 3 hours for this workshop. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, as we will be walking around outside in the gardens. You also must bring along an empty stomach and a sense of adventure!
Cost of workshop is $12.00/person
